About the artist:

Born in England, Deborah Edmeades moved as a child to Johannesburg, South Africa. In the early 90s she relocated to New York City and became a performance artist. Since 2007 Deborah has resided in Vancouver, where she works between performance, video, object-making, and drawing. She has shown work at the Western Front and Artspeak in Vancouver; Participant Inc. and Pratt Manhattan Gallery in New York; as well as in Europe, South Korea and Brazil. Deborah has received grants from Franklin Furnace Archive NYC, Canada Council for the Arts and the BC Arts Council. In 2000, she was visiting artist and guest lecturer of performance art at the University of Texas at Austin.
