About the artist:

Christina Oyawale is a Black non-binary disabled lens-based artist, curator, and designer whose work explores the radical occupation of space through a disability and queer framework in image-making, specifically through experimental video, performance, photography, and installation. Christina holds a BFA in Photography from Toronto Metropolitan University. They strive to curate programming that fosters community conversations that pertain to interdependence, mental health, socio-political systems of oppression, and investigations of self. Through their work, they strive to contribute to a broader conversation about disability aesthetics, and to challenge the ways in which disability and queerness are often marginalized or excluded from mainstream cultural production. In their ideal art world, movement, love, sharing, and community interdependence is paramount.
