Lauren Lavery

Lauren Lavery is a writer, artist, and editor. She has published art writing for Contemporary Art Review LA, The Capilano ReviewReIssueBlackFlashCornelia MagazinePublic ParkingPeripheral Review, and LUMA Quarterly, and in exhibition texts for Wil Aballe Projects, Martha Street Studios, Xpace Cultural Centre, and Y+ Contemporary.

She is the founder and editor of Peripheral Review, an online platform of exhibition reviews of Canadian emerging artists and spaces, and is the Assistant Director at Catriona Jeffries Gallery. From 2021-2024 she was the Managing Editor of The Capilano Review. She holds a BFA with honours from Simon Fraser University’s School for the Contemporary Arts in Vancouver, BC, and lives on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ Nations.
