Are you an emerging or unpublished art writer looking for tips on how to hone your pitch or first draft?

In advance of our Winter 2021 Call for Submissions Deadline (Monday December 13 at midnight PST) we are offering three virtual workshops over Zoom to help give you tips and personalized feedback on how to write an effective pitch for writing on visual art exhibitions and events.

Editors Lauren Lavery and Angel Callander will be facilitating the 1 hour workshops that will involve using examples of best practice when pitching to a call, cold-call pitching, and reading and discussing examples of good and (not so good) art writing and reviews. The workshops are casual in tone and active participation is not mandatory. There will be a 15 minute period for questions at the end of each workshop.

If you would like to get personalized feedback on your pitch or first draft (up to 450 words) during the workshops, instructions on how to send them to us will be in the confirmation upon signing up for the workshop.

Cost for the workshop is a sliding-scale PWYC: $15 – 50 CAD.

If you are facing financial barriers to participating, please email us at peripheralreview@gmail.com with the subject line: “PR Workshop” and let us know about your writing experience in the email.

Workshop #1: Wednesday December 8 (8pm EST / 5pm PST)

Workshop #2: Saturday December 11 (2pm EST / 11am PST)

Workshop #3: Saturday December 11 (8pm EST / 5pm PST)
